Studying the Selective Methylacetylene Hydrogenation Reaction in Methylacetylene–Propylene Mixtures on Palladium Oxide Nanocatalysts

The mechanism and kinetics of the selective catalytic methylacetylene hydrogenation reaction in propane–propylene gas mixtures were studied until complete consumption them on Pd nanocatalyst (Pd/α-Al2O3) promoted by metals from Groups I, II, VI Mendeleev’s Periodic Table at a content 0.05 wt %. experiments performed an isothermic plug flow reactor 100 cm3 volume bench polytropic 8 dm3 volume. carried out varying feedstock hourly space velocity 2000 to 3000 h–1, mixture temperature 303 420 K, molar hydrogen/methylacetylene ratio 1.5 3.0. Palladium nanohexagons were prepared using a seed-mediated method. Their catalytic performance in 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol hydrogenation was compared to the one of monodispersed Pd nanospheres.
